Directly above this weeks Blog is a new widget I placed on our Blog page. It is called a newsreel. This newsreel searches the web for stories pertaining to the topic of your choosing. I chose to search for current events and world news.
Also, notice to the right hand side is a poll widget. This widget can be added and a poll questions can be posed.
The last widget you will notice is the "Follow by Email" widget. This allows you to follow the Blogs and get updates regarding new assignments, etc.
Your Assignment:
1) Pick out one of the topics scrolling along the top in the Newsreel and read that article giving a brief summary of the article and your opinions/thoughts on that article.
2) Make sure and vote on the poll questions regarding your EFFORT on the blogs throughout the year.

I did the story about the Blind Man to sail around the world alone. A veteran sailor Dennis Howard. He is legally blind. He suffered a severe form of glaucoma, which causes damage of the optic nerves. He had his right eye taken out, and has lost most of his vision in his left.
He plans to depart on a specially designed 20 foot boat from San Diego, California in late October. Howard sees the voyage as an opportunity to show others that disability needn't be a barrier.

The voyage is expected to take around one and a half to two years, with Howard hoping to end the journey in France.
Howard's 20-foot boat is equipped with essential technologies to ensure the safety of both Howard and other sailors, including an Automatic Identification System (AIS), which alerts Howard to ships within a 50-mile radius.
a man was killed by a bear , his body was found sometime monday by 2 hikers . park rangers say its the second attack this summer,the first attack was by a grizzly bear protecting its cub , but the was no evidence that there was a cub the second time . they say it was a seond bear who killed him
A bear attack caused the death of a hiker whose body was found on a trail in Yellowstone National Park, officials confirmed Monday.
The body of John Wallace, 59, was discovered Friday by two hikers along the Mary Mountain Trail, an area of the park that had been closed to hikers, according to park services.
i think that this is a very common thing to happen in forest with bears. i dont like it one bit but things happen like that.
1.) I read a article on a man who was killed on his honeymoon when he was attacked by a shark. My thoughts on his death are, that really stinks. It would suck to die 10 days after your wedding.
In Spain they have a tomato fight every year on the 31 of August. it has been going on sixty six years! There was over 120 tons of ripe tomatoes used this year! I think that this is pretty cool. Just a huge tomato fight in the middle of town! Crazy!
1-the virus,named JX-594 is showing promise in the medical field for fighting canser. i thnk this would be great for humanity but it would put a lot of pressure on farmers and ranchers to provide food for all the people saved.

I read the one about finding an anti cancer virus. I think that it is a great thing due to the fact it might save tons of lives and help with other scientific issues happening

In Carson City, Nevada a man opened fire at an ihop resturant late in the afternoon. There were 7 people wounded along with the gunman and a cop that was on the scene said that the gunman was probably going to die. He showed up with a rifle shot at a man on a motercycle then went into the resturant and after leaving he continued to shoot in a nearby shopping center.
Shelli Eldredge's dream vacation nearly killed her. After a moped accident in Hawaii broke nearly 50 of her bones, fractured her skull, snapped her spine and left her in a coma, doctors didn't have much hope for her recovery. One recommended stopping life support.
